Overview In X-Plane, the load order of sceneries is absolutely crucial! The load order of sceneries is defined by the scenery_packs.ini located in the Custom Scenery folder. It is a plain text file, you can open it in any text editor you like (I recommend Notepad++). The system is very intuitive, packages higher in the ini have a higher priority. That is, a package at the top takes precedence over a package at the bottom. How to order packages In general, packages should be ordered in the order of Custom Airports/Sceneries > Generic Airports > Overlays > Meshes > Libraries. (Libraries can go anyway actually, doesn't matter unless they conflict, then the one higher takes precedence). So your order should be something like this Custom Airport/Sceneries *GLOBAL_AIRPORTS* Overlays (Y <ICAO> Overlay, X-America, Orbx True Earth, etc) Mesh (Z <ICAO> Overlay, Ortho4XP, AlpilotX HD Mesh, etc) Example Below is an example of how one's scenery_packs.ini might/should look: I 1000 Version SCENERY SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KSEZ - Sedona/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/1G4 - Grand Canyon West/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KDEN - Denver International Airport/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KEVV - Evansville Regional Airport/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KMMH - Mammoth Yosemite/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KTEX - Telluride Regional Airport/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KWYS - Forests/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KWYS - Yellowstone/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Codr Designs Library/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/AEP/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - EDDF Frankfurt/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - EDLP Paderborn-Lippstadt/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - EGLL Heathrow/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - LFMN Nice Cote d Azur X/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - LFPO Paris Orly/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Aerosoft - LPFR Faro/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/KBTV Burlington/ SCENERY_PACK *GLOBAL_AIRPORTS* SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Berlin and Frankfurt/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Budapest/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Chicago/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Dubai/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Las Vegas/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - London/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Los Angeles/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - New York/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Paris/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Rio De Janeiro/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Saint Louis/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - San Francisco/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Sydney/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/X-Plane Landmarks - Washington DC/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y KSEZ Overlay/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y 1G4 Forests/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y 1G4 Overlays/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y KDEN Overlay/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y KEVV Overlay/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y KMMH Overlay/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y KTEX Overlay/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Y KWYS Overlay/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Z 1G4 Mesh/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Z KDEN Mesh/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Z KEVV Mesh/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Z KMMH Mesh/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Z KTEX Mesh/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Z KWYS Mesh/ SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/Z KSEZ Mesh/ SCENERY_PACK C:\Users\<your user name here>\Desktop\X-Plane 12\Resources\plugins\SAM\lib\SAM_Library/

Overview On Window, when there is a conflict between folders in a copy operation, the replace option simply merges the folders and overwrites conflicting files. On Mac however, replace deletes the original folder, replacing it with the new folder, therefore every file that isn't a duplicate is lost. The solution to this is choosing merge. To get the merge option, hold down the option key (alt) when pasting or moving a folder that will conflict with a folder in the destination. This will result in Windows like behavior, only the conflicting files will be overwritten.

Overview The Community folder in MSFS is where addons purchased or downloaded outside the in game Marketplace are placed to load in the sim. Finding To find the community folder simply: 1. Open file explorer 2. Click the top bar (shown in below picture) 3. There are two different locations the community folder can be, the default location, or if you chose a custom install location. - Default path: %LocalAppData%\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community - Custom Install Location: If you choose a custom install location for MSFS (i.e. C:\MSFS2020) your community folder is located in <your path>\Community (i.e. if you selected C:\MSFS2020 as your custom install path for MSFS, your community folder is at C:\MSFS2020\Community) 4. Once you've determined the path of your Community folder, paste it into the top bar, then press enter. The 'Official' Folder The official folder is located in the same folder as Community. This is where any packages installed from the MSFS Marketplace, or default sim content, are installed. For example. if your Community folder is at "C:\MSFS2020\Community", your Official folder is at "C:\MSFS2020\Official" Installing To install addons in the community folder, do the following 1. Download the package 2. Unzip the package 3. Look into the folders until you find the manual 4. At the same level of the manual will be the folder that goes into the community folder 5. Move this package folder that you just identified into the community folder Making sure you're not one folder too deep It's easy to end up copying the folder containing the package that belongs in the community folder into the community folder instead. Ie copying KBLU - Package into Community rather than "xcodr-airport-kblu-blue-canyon". If your scenery isn't showing, it's a good starting point to check. If the folder name isn't <developer>-airport-<icao>-<name>, all lowercase, no spaces, then you most likely copied the folder that contains the correct folder, rather than the correct folder. To resolve this situation, simply look into the folder, and keep opening folders until you find the one that matches the above naming convention. Then, move that folder back into the community folder, and delete the folder that you're in which is now empty.

Overview Those of you that have used X-Plane in the past know that load order is a big deal! While not as important in MSFS, it still can cause some issues if not set up correctly. In most cases, this should not be necessary, if you think it is, please, save yourself some trouble, and reach out to me via the Contact page to see if that is indeed the case. In MSFS, the load order is controlled by the content.xml. The content .xml is located in "%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache". It uses a system of priority levels where lower values represent higher priorities, that is, a package with priority 1 will load before a package with priority 3, and that package with priority 3 will load before a package with priority 10, and so on. By default, since SU10, packages have to be added to the content.xml. There is an editor... but it's less than intuitive. Hopefully Asobo will improve this in the future. Please see "Adding Packages to Content.xml" section at the end. Summary Content.xml is located in "%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache" The lower the priority number, the higher the priority Packages in the Content.xml have a higher priority than those not Packages must be added to the Content.xml to have their order edited Finding To access the Content.xml: Open a File Explorer Window Click the top bar and paste the following text (circled in image) %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache The Content.xml is in this folder Editing To edit the Content.xml order: Follow the steps in "Adding Packages to Content.xml" below to add the packages that need their order edited to the Content.xml Go to "%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache" in File Explorer Open the file "Content.xml" in a text editor (I recommend Notepad++ for it's speed, clarity, and syntax highlighting). Find the package that is conflicting with the desired package (ie, the package that needs a lower priority. For example, if you have an autogen package that is conflicting with an airport, you want to find the autogen package) Set the priority to a lower value than that of the package that is interfering with it. Save and close the Content.xml Demo Video Here is a demonstration video: Adding Packages to Content.xml Since SU10, by default, there is no Content.xml, and packages are not auto added to the content.xml. You need to add packages to the Content.xml yourself. Here's how: Now the packages are added to your Content.xml and can have their order edited! By default, packages in the Content.xml will have a higher priority than packages not in the Content.xml. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out via the Contact Us page!

Today I'm happy to announce the development of KSEZ - Sedona Version 2.0! This will be a free update for current users, though the word "update" doesn't really do it justice, because this update is HUGE! First off, we have all new buildings and ground textures, both of which are wildly more detailed than before. In fact, the FBO, Mesa Grill, and Sedona Air Tours buildings all have fully detailed interiors. The prior versions had interiors, but, wellll, let's just let the screenshots speak for themselves ;). Old Version: New Version: The ground has gotten completely reworked as well. Notably, since 2017, there has been a new patch of green no taxi zone added (I know, KSEZ seems a little small for that right?), the helipad by Sedona Air Tours has been removed, and the entire central-northern ramp has been repaved. Of course, the rest of the pavement has weathered as well, and all these changes are reflected in the update. I've also learned some new techniques that allow me to add excellent up close detail without having overly visible tiling. All that pavement you see above, it's using the same detail textures you see below! But what about the surroundings? Sedona after all is known for it's stunning red rocks. Not to worry, those are getting a huge upgrade as well! While I can't promise the whole valley will get included (like in my MSFS version) or will be perfectly integrated (we still need a proper mesh editor in XP), I am fairly confident I will be able to get a descent implementation for most if not all of the valley. I currently have 4 models implemented. So how do they compare to the previous ones? Once again, I'll let the screenshots speak for themselves 😉. Old Version: New Version: You may notice that the airport feels rather... empty. Not to worry though, people have already been animated. In addition, other life will be added via my Living Scenery Technology plugin (available free on my site and on the .org). Here's a preview of my animated 3d preview in action in the MSFS version: And of course, you can expect all the usual features, X-Plane 12 3d trees, X-Plane 12 seasonal effects, lots of nice clutter, etc. But best of all, this update will be free to all current users! So no need to worry about having to pay to get the new version, etc. I don't know when this will be out, but this is all a port from MSFS, so it's largely just polishing things and finishing implementing rocks at this point. Please note all previews are incomplete, and therefore there are quite a few missing things So, without further ado, here's some screenshots! Enjoy!

I'm very happy to announce that development for KDEN - Denver International Airport V2.0 is underway! KDEN V2.0 will be a huge upgrade over the current version, and most importantly, as always, will be free for all current users! You may have seen the video during the X-Plane 12 alpha, but now that KSEZ for MSFS is done and the port to X-Plane (a much smaller job) is underway, serious development for KDEN can now begin. Some of the things you can look forward to in KDEN V2.0 are: Brand new terminals with dramatically more details and better textures Brand new tower New terminal layout 3D interiors for all the terminals of dramatically high quality. You can even see interiors through skylights Improved ground texturing Improved texturing for buildings throughout the airport Animated 3D people that actually look fairly descent (similar to those seen here) And one feature I'm sure everyone will be very happy to hear, better performance! Wait... better performance?! How do you add loads more details and millions more triangles and get better performance? Aggressive LODs. In the current versions of KDEN, the LODs are very large, so you get almost the entire airport being drawn at once, and that includes over 110 high poly jetways with no LODs and no instancing thanks to animation. In this new version, jetways will have LODs, terminal details will be segmented so no more than half a terminal will be rendered at once (because who needs to see the interior of a terminal half a mile away?), and various other optimizations. In all, I'm hoping for modest gains in fps. How do we know this works? Fun fact: The current version of KDEN you're using, there's 13,860 cars. Each car has close to 10,000 tris at the closest LOD. That's close to 139 million triangles, the current terminals are under 1 mil each 🤯. And yet the cars have fairly minimal fps impact, thanks to extremely aggressive LODs. That same methodology will be applied to the terminals, and every applicable part of the scenery. So when will KDEN be ready? When it's ready haha. Last time I gave a release date, I was almost 3 months late (largely due to factors beyond my control), so I won't be doing that again! What I can say is while development is underway, the KSEZ port to X-Plane has priority. That being said, I don't expect Sedona to take very long. So without further ado, screenshots!! Please keep in mind this is in the early stages of development, so there may be some oddities
